Before going to bed, make sure you do relaxing things. Read a book, knit (or some other gentle craft) or meditate (this helps to slow your mind down enough to sleep). Take a herbal "tranquiliser" like valerian (available non-prescription at your local chemist) at 9.30pm each night (for a 10pm bedtime). If you find yourself waking up during the night, pop another valerian pill (two in 24 hours is all you should take...you *can* overdose on herbal remedies, which is just as dangerous for you as overdosing on man made drugs). It will take about a month, but doing this will most likely restore your sleep to normal patterns.I had sleep issues for a few months at a time a while back, and after trying everything i could think of, the valerian was the only thing that helped me.good luck! |
