If you don't snore, you don't have apnea. Your body stops breathing because the muscles in the neck restrict air flow. You wake yourself up with a large snore-like gasp. Your bed-mate would certainly know if you do this as it would wake up the dead. I tried wearing ear plugs and putting the pillow over my head to no avail. Could hear him in the next room!
