I can vouch for dogs since they are the only animal that ever owned me. They bark, rumble and toss in their sleep and I know they are flying over open fields chasing rabbits. You just have to know them well and then you can imagine what they dream. Do I have quantitative or qualitative data? No. But I know dogs and they dream. @8-)

My little pooch makes growling noises and sometimes barks while she sleeps. I know she's dreaming and it is so damn cute.

Haven't you ever seen a dog sleep? They bark (under their breath, quietly) and run -- their feet move a little. It's very funny. They have been plugged into electrodes (the suction cup type) and they dream a lot. Cats only seem to dream of pouncing on things. Don't know about other animals (can you imagine a mouse hooked up to a EKG?) but they must dream also.

My dogs do. When they are sleeping sometimes their little legs are going like they are running in their dream. I think they even have bad dreams because I have woken them up because they are whimpering before. Dogs are amazing if watch them and really get to know their personalities.

I believe animals do dream while sleeping. Just like us it does not have to be all the time. I have 4 cats and often while they are sleeping they twitch and move. Also I have seen their whiskers and mouth moving. It is too cute. That is my outlook on the questions. I hope it helps.
