Default Is there a medication that allows you to...

...sleep without dreaming? I have nightmares every night, I guess you could say night terrors, but it doesn't matter. Someone had told me about a medication that allows you to sleep without dreaming, but when I looked it up, there was no information on it. Does anyone know if such a mediaction exists?

I wish I knew how to shut off my dreams cuz most of them are nightmares too -- maybe you could alter your dreams with lucid dreaming ---

Most animals *need* to dream---it's a prerequisite to normal mental functioning. Although there may be medication that may disrupt normal dreaming patterns and temporarily stop the process, I wouldn't recommend taking such treatment. If you remember your bad dreams, then they are nightmares. Patients have no recollection of dreams during night terrors. You may consider talking to your family and friends (or friendly neighborhood psychologist) to discuss possible reasons for the nightmares. These dreams could be caused by stress, trauma (whether recent or in the past), diet, pre-sleep activities, etc.
