Default Is it normal to act out your dreams while you are...

...sleeping? I was having this dream I was in my teacher's room and then all of a sudden my leg starts to hurt ---almost like a Charley Horse and in my dream I was screaming because of the pain. And then I wake up from my dream because my mom is all frantic and asking me what's wrong and I was holding my leg and it sort of hurt. I said, "What do you mean?" She said, "Well you were screaming. Do you have a Charley Horse or something?" I said, "I guess so." Now keep in my mind, I'm half asleep when I'm answering her questions and right after my final reply, I fall back to sleep. Is this normal? Is it a sort of sleep walking or something? I do toss and turn like everyone else when I sleep, but this is the first time I've acted out my dreams. The reason why my mom came into my room was because I was also screaming in real life as well in my dream. She woke up because of my screaming.

Physical sensations that your body is feeling will often work their way into your dream, and your dream experience will often create physical reactions (this is why your heart pounds and you break out in sweat when you have a nightmare, or why you have wet dreams). The link between mind and body is not perfectly severed during sleep. It's probably a good thing that it's not. You want to wake up if your house is on fire or something.

I know of that which you speak. I have in the past dreamed of fighting and hit the wall or headboard and on two occasions my wife. ( I was asleep ) I have been known to kick the wall as well. In my dream I was hitting or kicking someone in defense or anger. I have felt a pain in a dream and awake to the pain. However I beleive the dream forms around the pain. I sleep with a stereo on, sometimes in my dream the song that is playing will be in the background of my dream. I beleive that the subconsious plays to the physical and not the physical to the subconsious in this case..Sweet dreamss lol d

I guess so, my mom said that one time my dad was sleeping and asked if she'd like to dance and he grabbed her waist

well, you weren't exactly acting out a dream. You were reacting to the pain you were having in your dream. Not the same. And yeah, it's normal.

yeah... I think... My brother does it all the time... He gets embarrassed by it... I think it's the caffeine because he drinks about 3 cans of soda a day or every half a day... I think it affects him...

my family calls that a ghost's grip, its something that happened in real life that incorporated into the dream, like when your radio alarm makes a song in your dream.
