Do Dogs dream and "talk" in their sleep?

My dog sometimes twitches and rolls around on the floor when he sleeps. Sometimes he breathing gets really pronounced and heavy to the point where he wakes himself up. Other times he moans, yips, growls and soft barks while his legs are moving. It's really quite interesting to watch - and it makes me wonder.... do they dream? Or is there another explanation?

yes,,,, my puppy does that is normal....they might have night mares or dreams...... don't worry i just wake up my dog and she looks around and then she goes back to sleep//\.....when my dog had puppies all of them slept and yelped and talked .......it was kinda cute.

Yes, dogs dream in there sleep. My Dalmatian does it all the time. He jerks and twitches and even barks like something is chasing him.

yep they do, my 10 month old lab and shepard mix twitches a bit and yipes sometimes in his sleep, a few times a week or moreits funny actually :P

My little dog dreams all the time. The part that freaks me out is when I see her going through REM.

yes,dogs dream.My two dogs look like their running in their sleep and they also yip and growl.They're ex-racing greyhounds and i think they're dreaming of their old racing days chasing the stuffed rabbit!
