Default temporary insomnia?

I don't think that I have insomnia because I can sleep 1/2 the time but, like, for once or twice every month I don't sleep or I don't sleep much, like, 2 or 3 hours a night. It bothers me because I am so exhausted but I just can't sleep. I am not stressed or anything but I get really anxious or nervous and my heart races. I seriously just lay here, fidget, and try to sleep.
Is this insomnia? Or is it normal? What can I do to fix it?
when i said once or twice every month i meant one or two weeks.

Hey ,

Even I suffer the same thing.Have you noticed any pattern in this ..like it happens when your AF is coming or just over ?

Try drinking milk before bed time ...it should help :)

Unisom works better than phenobarbital - a barbituate - according to one study. I think you should try it. It is similar in structure to benedryl except it "sticks" a bit better to put it nontechnically. It works really well. Pick up a few tablets and use them as needed.

Additionally, for a non drug option try hypnosis tapes. Its fairly easy to record them yourself. Self hypnosis can work, but it takes practice and is less effective. Good luck!
