at the moment it is 2.30am in the uk and i'm still not tired the funny thing is its happened since i have my blood sugar levels under control i seem to get tired at the wrong times like during the day when i'm at work but it seems as soon as its night time i'm wide awake any good ideas on getting my sleep pattern back without the use of drugs i have tried all the usual things but to no avail i've only had 4hrs sleep in 3 days and still not tired, and what worries me is i drive for a living so i must sort it out i don't want to worry the doctor with it at the moment mainly because i cant take tablets for it because of the driving and not able to take time off of worki am on metformin would this have anything to do with it and also a blood pressure tabletand as for exercise i am a delivery driver so i am in and out of my van all the time i have even tried walking my dogs really late,i read i watch tv and i use the computer hoping that it will make me tired but no i'm still not sleepy i end up going to bed and just laying there waiting for morning and it is getting me down

Insomnia is a strange thing all on it's own. It may have absolutely no connection with your diabetes. However, I do think it's something to see the Dr. about because it could be something a little more critical than insomnia.

I am a type II and had a similar problem. I did two things which helped a lot and may help you:1. I put myself on a sleeping schedule. Every night, I read from 9:30-10 and lights go out at 10. No exceptions. My body started regulating itself as to when it needed sleep and when it didn't.2. I started exercising more, cardio and weight which releases endorphins into the blood stream and promotes low stress and relaxation among other benefits.Hope that helps. Good luck!
