it could be that he has some gum problem which is causing the bleeding which intern causes the bad breath or it could be that he has some teeth that have severe cavities and are hurting the gum area. with cavities your breath does smell bad because of the bacteria building up in the area...

Your husband probably has severe periodontal disease, he really needs to go to a dentist. His breath is a results of the bacteria in his mouth. Schedule an appointment ASAP.They will need to take a full set of x-rays and preform a clinical exam before they can fully diagnose the problem.

It sounds like your husband has a real bad case of gingivitis. Ask him if his gums bleed when he brushes his teeth. This is a sure sign of gum disease. Have him get to the dentist to repair any caries and to have a deep tooth cleaning to remove the accumulated plaque. Failure to maintain good dental hygiene can lead to premature tooth loss.
