I meditate and on days when I lack the ability to focus long enough to do so, I take the natural supplement- Valarian Root. It comes in capules or caplets and you can buy it OTC at WalMart or any drug store. Follow the directions on the bottle and be sure to ask your doctor before taking any new regiment.

Sleep medicines can be harmful to your health. They've found lately that people are sleep walking, eating and driving during sleep due to those medicines. ( And the are pigging out without knowing it - no kidding. )If you drink tea, coffee, or caffienated beverages you should stop. Those will all cause trouble for your sleep habits. You may also try mild exercise and stretching about four hours before bedtime.

Try taking a hot bath before bedtime and do something that makes you sleepy like reading maybe. Also, you could try something OTC like Advil PM. Good luck, I know it is not fun!

Make A Routine For Yourself, In Other Words Get Tired Studying, reading, Exercising And Dont Eat Too Late At Night And Drink Water Too Late Before Sleeping. Keep The Sleep Area As Dark As Possible And Wear Non-binding Clothes While Sleeping.its A Discipline And Thats It !!!! Dont Think Of Anything Else When Its Time To Snooze. Just Think Of Sleep And Nothing Else. Have A Little Ventilation And Structure Yourself More . Just Do It.

Dear sleepless, consider a nice herbal tea that has one or more of the following in it, chamomile, passionflower, hops, lavender, catnip, scullcap, mint....check out www.mountainroseherbs.comthey have some good formulas for sleepytime, or go to your local herbstore and ask their advice, eat more fiber, drink more water, walk more, and don't drink coffee.I would stay away from presctiption sleep medications, make sure you are getting enough calcium.-Adam
