Default How do I get over insomnia?

I have had maybe a total of 15-20 hours of sleep over the past 3 days.I try going to bed to allow myself 8-9 hours of sleep because I can not wake up in time to get to work on time.Taking sleeping pills makes me more groggy in the morning.I have sonata for my insomnia.I can not fall asleep at 10 when I lay die even though I am so tired. I try to wake up at 6:30/7 to get to work by 8, but normally I never wak up until 7:30.I lay down at night and lay there and think oh wow I am tired I will fall asleep soon. 2 1/2 hours later, I may fall asleep only to get up 3 or 4 times that night. What can I do?

If you've slept for 15-20 hours over the last 3 days, that's an average of 5-6 hours of sleep a night. That is totally normal for some people. My husband goes to bed at 10:30 and wakes up at 4:30 or 5AM all the time. He just figures that's all the sleep he needs. Check what you consume a couple hours before bed, caffine? sugary snacks? Do you have a TV in your room? is it on when you are going to sleep? Ive heard that just the fact that there is a TV in your room, you could have disturbed sleep because of the electricity it draws from the walls. You never know...electricity does exist and some people are sensitive to these things. You could also try to meditate and just calm down so you can let your mind rest. Sleeping and resting are two different things. You have been having unrestful sleep. Read up on meditation, it doesnt have to be a big deal with candles, incence, gongs and waterfalls...just get in bed, with no TV, and do your meditation to clear your mind and fall asleep. It could be as simple as repeating a phrase or a sentance, over and over, in your head, slowly, and concentrating on that sentance. Also, maybe an image, building it in your head until you actually see it. Good luck and sweet dreams!
