Default a question about insomnia?

I have a problem with falling asleep and staying asleep, I work out all day and go to sleep when i'm tired, I dont want any liver damaging drugs, and for some reason melatonin makes me have horrible nightmares what can I do? this is affecting my life!also, did our ancient ancestors follow a strict sleeping pattern? as in sleep in the night and hunt gather food in the day?, I mean if we are just as human as they were I'd like to know this.

Before the advent of fire, and then electricity, yes. They worked while it was daylight and slept at night. Check out your diet and exercise. Usually if these are on track, sleep is not a problem, unless there are emotional/mental stresses.

it is necessary to get around six hours sleep to rejenovate. sleeping schedule can be fixed by considering your daily routines. should avoid heavy drinking as well as food. it will help taking light drink, read light literature, see pleasant pictures and listen to light music before sleep. no serious work should be handled just before sleep. all this should give good sleep. if the problem persists, the only remedy is to consult a physician.
