Default I am 13 weeks pregnant and not sleeping well at

all, any ideas for remedies to fix this problem? I have tried Benadryl, Unisom, drinking some milk before bedtime, I bought a memory foam pillow, I have tried a hot shower before bed, etc etc. I still wake up many times throughout the night and then once morning comes, it is very difficult to drag myself out of bed due to exhaustion. This is my second pregnancy and I didn't experience any of this with my first one. Please advise me of any ideas you have to help with this or if you have experienced this yourself what you did to get more sleep. No sarcastic answers here please such as wait until you have the baby etc. because that is an obvious solution.

use relaxing aromatheraphy and do exercise for pregnant women. maybe you better take pilates. it's a kind of slow sport looks like yoga. but there's pilates that special for pregnant women. try it. eat and drink good food, water, milk for pregnancy and the lastturn off the lights when you want to sleep

13 weeks does not seem like it is far enough along for you to be losing a lot of sleep. I know during the beginning of all my pregnancies I would sleep a lot. I would talk to your doctor about it, especially since you are trying different medications that might not be good for the baby. Maybe you are also stressing over the fact that you are having a baby and that is why you can't sleep. Good luck and congrats on the little one.

Well I'd say to increase your daily exercise (or incorporate exercise if you don't). Do an hour of walking in the afternoon or the morning. Then keep trying Unisom and warm milk and try to get hubby to give you a nice massage an hour or two berfore bed. Stress may definately have something to do with it too. Unfortunately it just happens and people get it at different times. I think if you combine exerting your body a little more and keeping up with the Unisom and relaxation that you will find it a little easier until this stops (if it doesn't stop it). I wake up 3 times a night just to PEE!!! So I kind of feel your pain, sorry! Sometimes when I wake up at 3:30 to pee I can't sleep until 30 minutes before my husbands alarm goes off. I find hot showers don't make me sleepy but more awake, so does working out in the evening anytime at 5 or later. Watching TV sometimes keeps your brain stimulated. Mabye you can listen to a book on tape for 30 mintues before you sleep. It kind of helps me.

I so know how you are feeling right now. I have 2 boys and I was put on bed rest at 12 weeks for bleeding with both. So I know all about the difficulty of sleeping. First I will tell you thank god for Tums and TYLENOL PM........ this is the only thing you should take that is over the counter. THe Dr can perscrib some meds but tylenol works just fine. Try it!!!!!If that is not working, then maybe you need to stop working if you are still working at this time. Your body isnt sleeping for a reason and sometimes it isnt just because you arent tired. While you are pg your body is changing so much. Are you carrying the opposite sex of your first child? Did you have complications with the first...... there are a lot of things that can trigger a physiological response affecting you and the growth and development of the baby. If you can not sleep through the night because you have to pee, then dont worry, but if it is for other reasons call your doctor and talk about the difficulty. Your body and your baby need rest and good nutrition which you might be lacking and the Dr can help put the puzzle together. I wish you the best of luck and a Congradulations! Everyone has mentioned excercise, yes that is a good thing, and drinking a lot of water.... but dont over do it, your body might be telling you to slow down. To much water can overhydrate yourself altering your electrolytes. Best thing to do is call the Dr. first thing Monday morning....... ps.you know your body better than everyone else!! =-)

I struggled with sleep through my entire pregnancy up until they put me on hypertension meds (Aldomet) where sleepiness was a side effect. Obviously this is of no use to you but my point is perhaps your doctor can recommend something for you that is prescription and safe to take. I used to take Tyelnol PM which uses the same ingrediant in Benadryl that makes you sleepy. It didn't work for me either. If nothing else has worked, try lavender. Sometimes I use lavender bubble bath, bath oil, soap and lotion. Also, Bath and Body Works makes a Lavender/Vanilla linen spray that is nice. Lavender is said to promote relaxation and sleep. Can you sleep with music? Try puting on some classical music like the cd "Beethoven at Bedtime" or Mozart. The slow lulliby type sounds can help make you concentrate on something other than your discomforts.I hope this was helpful and that you get some rest.Good Luck.

Well, I would try sleepy time tea at night, as well as reading. Be sure to get plenty of exercise during the day, to wear yourself out. Maybe you're overtired. Or it could just be the hormone changes that you are experiencing. I myself am suffering the menopause hormone thing, and it sounds like you're going through what I go through, so I tend to believe that it's hormone related. Do your best and remember that it will get better soon. (And congratulations!)

If you get any good answers let me know, because I am right there with you. The only thing that has helped me sleep the last couple nights is to not sleep any during the day. I was taking a hour to hour and a half nap everyday. I slept a little better last night. Just know someone out there (ME) feels your pain/exhaustion.

I have had this problem before, make sure you cut out caffine and sugar around 4-5 hours before going to bed, make sure y our bed is comfortable, no napping in the day, and make sure it is very dark, try to think calm things, and have a nice warm drink of sleepy time tea before bed, that is what i do.
