Maybe you have anxiety related to college. I don't like medication, but I do find Tylenol pm helpful, it relaxes me a little.

Sometimes sleep problems can be the result of stress, so you might want to try something relaxing like an hour or so before bed to help you wind down. Similarly, if you get in a regular sleep pattern, that will help too.

I have problems like that too and have for years...since I was about your age. I'm 26. This is what helps me. I take Melatonin. It's a non-addictive herbal sleep aid. Then I heat up a rice pack in the microwave and put it around my neck to relax me and I read for a while till I start getting tired. Usually it helps. I also sleep with a fan on to drown out any sounds. If I'm still tossing, I put my head at the foot of the bed and sleep that way, for some reason a new environment helps me. So thats what I do...hope it helps you!

its all the stress that you are under from all sorts of different times. by boyfriend is having the same problem..he is also 18 and in college. accually he has the exact same situation as you so it has to be common if not normal.

Don't go to bed until your tired enough to fall asleep. Instead of tossing and turning just do something with your time, this will help to tire you more also. Maybe this is happening because something changed or is going on in your life right now, think back to what has been going on this last week, try to think about anything that is different. When things are cleared up in your mind you will be less restless.

i have the same thing. i'm always tired, but when i try to sleep early i keep myself up tossing and turning. so i stay awake just long enough to make myself fall asleep instantly. for me it's that im just down all the time and my troubles are keeping me awake. i used to dream, but now i just feel uncomfortable or tense at night. maybe ur stressed out. try listening to some music while ur falling asleep-might help.

stress, worry, diet, sleep habits and your sleep environment can all contribute to sleeplessness. changing your sleep habits and environment can improve your sleep. try keeping a sleep diary to track your sleep patterns so you can show it to your doctor. here's more. try not drinking caffeine after 4 pm. that means: cofffee, tea, chocolate, soft drinks, and some meds. no alcohol after dinner, cut down on smoking, nicotine is a stimulant. maybe soak in a warm bath. please see your doctor as there may be something more serious. good luck

Referring to babies , my mother used to say ," One good sleep begets another ". This applies equally to adults .What are you doing before going to bed ? Drinking Coke or Coffee ? You should not be taking strenuous exercise or similar activity very stimulating to body and mind . When you have slept badly for a night or two , you become psychologically afraid of not sleeping , which keeps you awake . See if you can find Passiflora capsules or liquid at your pharmacy or herbalist ; this is a harmless non-addictive herbal remedy , take 2 / 3 with a glass of water , you will relax and sleep after about half an hour , if not take some more . I think if you took the whole bottle it won't harm you .Once you have re-established a normal sleep pattern , stop taking it . Resume again when you need to .
