Have you ever had a sleep study done? My friend has night terrors, and they sound similar to the things you describe. She had a sleep study done and they found out she has sleep apnea, which caused the night terrors, because her brain was being deprived of oxygen. Talk to your doctor about having a sleep study done.

DON'T throw the Lexapro away! Don't stop taking it without talking to your doctor!!! You probably already know that, but since someone suggested doing it I felt like I had to say something... If you're on something like Lexapro or Zoloft, or anything really but especially all of the anti-anxiety/anti-depression meds, stopping can trigger a complete crash in mood and make all the symptoms you have 10x worse than they were before you started. As for the actual question, I would ask for a referral to a psychopharmocologist - a doctor that is not just a psychiatrist, but one whose specialty is prescribing meds. What they can do is customize a combination of medications tailored just for your chemistry and needs. They'll work with you to figure out how much you need of what, and you can be on your own 'cocktail'. What's amazing to me about this is that you get to be on the medications you need, but no more. You don't get over-medicated, but you get what you need at the same time.Ask your prescribing doctor (psychiatrist, or medical doctor) for a referral. Good luck sweetie :)

I was on Paxil when I was locked up in a psych ward when i was 14 and it gave me severe insomnia and i started hearing voices speaking in weird languages screaming at me (thats how i got to spend some time in the padded wall room woot) I stopped eating and got really skinny and the insomnia caused me to not sleep for at least 2 weeks or more practically the whole time i was in thereI think i still have some side effects from it because I see shadows of people when there is nothing to cast them like i'm driving down the street and look out the window and i'll see a shadow person standing there for a secondthat's my experiences anyways I blame medicine for it and i bet that you're lexapro is doing the same thing to you best of luck and hope you get some sleep b4 u turn into edward norton from Fight Club
