What are details for symptoms of narcolepsy?

All right, so I'm writing a story wherein the main character has narcolepsy... however, it's hard for me to write her because... well... I don't have narcolepsy.

I'd like to know the details of (i.e. the feelings experienced during) EDS, and what it feels like when you're experiencing EDS while *standing*. Do you get dizzy and shut down? How long do the daytime naps last?

How vivid are the dreams, and what is sleep paralysis like?

... ^^" I really hate to sound like a jerk for asking weird questions like these, and I really don't mean to offend. I'd just like to portray narcolepsy in a realistic fashion, and-- unfortunately-- only knowing the symptoms doesn't help me figure out what they really feel like.

I know from experience that one can dream while standing in less then half a second and wake up and not even lose balance, though sometimes you bob or jerk back to consciousness..
of course then you look over and see coworkers giving you a look like they think your crazy. lol.
ya dig out of that one.

edit : how vivid are the dreams? I for sure see some weird crap. giant bugs attacking me. I think that is just me though. haha. and I have to pretend that I am ok when a coworker asks, its completely random crap that makes no sense. sometimes its just a thought.
I have not been diagnosed though I just think that I have narcolepsy I can not afford to see a doctor. good old U.S.A.
